Scars Remain: Novel Synopsis

Photo by Jakob Owens on Unsplash

Traumatized, Patricia is anxious to get out of a town she’s worn comfortably as her own, since creche. Out of the wounded, wearisome, but wonderful, loving eyes of her parents, who hovered overhead equal to a dark and stormy night—like that night. Eighteen and barely out of high school, she escapes, as Joseph did from Potiphar's wife, and leaves behind torn pieces of her heart in the hands of her grasping parents. The numbness she feels after the death of her sister leads her to marry a man whose own desolation and wretchedness pull her inward.

Gregg, once the tortured, is now the torturer. His abusive military father has taught him nasty habits. Even his godly, loving, long dead mother couldn’t break the spell of tenebrosity. He loves to lay waste to the women he ensnares. He siphons their spirits and leaves them husks—a trick learned from dear old dad. Then he meets…her. Maybe his mom asked her God to watch over her only son.

Broken and hurting, they set out on a road to destruction. Something has to give. Each returns to their childhood home seeking answers. He needs a father. She needs hope. On their separate journeys they discover the hard truths about themselves, each other, and He who took the scars for all mankind.
